Experience a warm color distortion linked to an eternal monitor on your laptop.
Hi everyone, I’m feeling quite stuck on this setup. Here’s what I have so far: I’m using the latest Asus Strix laptop (2023, I9 / 4080) as a desktop replacement. It connects to an external Samsung Ody8 4K monitor and all peripherals—keyboard, mouse, microphone, headset. The system runs in performance or turbo mode and stays powered on constantly.
The monitor is always set to show only screen 2 (the external display). I haven’t changed or installed any color management software that’s native to the laptop or Asus apps.
Problem: The colors or visuals on the external monitor suddenly become overly vivid, with warm tones amplified. When I drag a test window onto the laptop screen, it refreshes just once and then returns to normal. The opposite happens too. Sometimes a fresh NVIDIA driver install helps temporarily, but it doesn’t last. I’ve tried new HDMI cables, different ports, restarts, driver reinstalls, and checked all color management settings in Windows.
I’m really puzzled—this seems like a driver issue, but I can’t pinpoint exactly where it’s going wrong. The temporary fix feels frustrating. I feel like something about the color profile is shifting somewhere, but I don’t see where or how. Thanks for any help—I’m not alone in this!
Cheers,
Daniel
