I’m checking how using Nvidia DSR on my monitor affects performance. I have a 4090 and anti-aliasing settings seem poor in Rainbow Six Siege. My main worry is whether this will drop my framerate by pushing the bandwidth of DisplayPort 1.4a too high. Or is there a difference since DSR downscales images? Also, I keep the refresh rate steady at 170Hz and never let it drop.

The game or app runs at an elevated resolution, such as 4K, and then reduces it back to 2K before displaying it on the screen. The output to the DisplayPort and the monitor follows the same 2K standard. On the GPU side, it processes the higher data load from rendering at 4K, which increases computational demands compared to 2K. This results in a noticeable performance impact.

The issue I’m worried about isn’t the performance. It’s mainly about whether the bandwidth is sufficient. Siege runs very smoothly.
