Consider backing up your drive to Windows before proceeding. Install the new SSD on the external enclosure, then format it with GPT. After setup, you can restore the drive from the system image if needed. This avoids risks and ensures compatibility.

Attempted to set up the system successfully after a delay. It’s now initialized with GPT. For cloning, consider using a Windows disk image or swapping the SSD in an external enclosure onto the desktop before writing it over. You mentioned trying Macrium—good choice for this process.

I've never worked with Windows built-in tools for moving data, but using third-party programs and seeing them market their cloning system as a "backup" makes it worth considering.

Windows secured my full 2TB QLC SSD with BitLocker, making it slow to delete. I haven’t even reached the image stage yet.
