You’ll remove the existing BIOS from the old motherboard and replace it with the new one. Reinstalling Windows or drivers is usually not required unless you’re upgrading significantly. Just ensure your system is compatible with the new chipset and BIOS version.

Update the BIOS by inserting the latest update onto a USB drive and employing the provided utility. A new motherboard is recommended, though it isn't mandatory.

Make sure to back up your crucial applications and save files to a cloud storage or an external hard drive. Restart Windows since the system update may have altered settings. This will remove outdated drivers and unnecessary files. Afterward, you might still need to install fresh drivers. It’s not strictly necessary from a technical standpoint.

upgrading from an i5 7400 with LGA1151 to a 10700k using LGA1200 means you’ll need a new motherboard. The BIOS won’t matter much since the new board is newer and likely includes the latest updates. You’d only need a BIOS update if you planned to use an 11th generation processor, but it’s not necessary here. All your games, apps, OS, and other files are already on the storage drive, so swapping the motherboard shouldn’t cause any problems. I recently changed my case and transferred the board without any issues—plugging in everything and turning it on worked perfectly.
