I own a Samsung Chronos Series 7 notebook. Some time ago, my wife slipped on the charging wire, damaging the port and charger tip. I decided to use it as usual for a while, but when I tried to charge it, a spark appeared. To test it quickly, I bought an alternative charger and found the issue. My Windows was running on a separate partition; after formatting and installing Windows 10, the Radeon drives crashed during installation—only restarting before installing drivers resolved it. I’m very concerned about potentially damaging my graphics card, as this happened a long time ago, possibly years back. I recall using ImageX and restoring from an image saved on USB, which worked. Now I have some time to try reviving the notebook. My main question is: are there Linux tools available for testing all hardware? I remember using Everest on Windows, but I’m thinking Ubuntu might be more convenient. If you have another Linux version in mind, I’d appreciate any suggestions.
