EVGA Classified SR-2 shows a curious storage condition.
48GB drives, six units in total. Just going through Intel ARK.
Memory support would be constrained because SR-2 relies on a 5520 chipset, similar to server boards, which is a multi-socket design rather than the single-socket X58 used for consumer LGA 1366 boards. REG memory compatibility is expected and standard on such chipsets, including the 5520.
I own an SR2 with 96 GB of ECC installed, but overclocking hasn't been easy. It really depends on your CPUs, especially their stepping capabilities. My X5675s performed well. The trick was using 8 GB of 2x4 dimms—essentially dual rank. I've heard stories of people getting 16 GB modules working, and I'm trying to find some, though the 12x8 GB 2x4 setup is solid. It takes a while to post, and it fails completely at 1600MHz. You might need to install half the modules, post them, and then adjust the command rate to 2T with hard settings every other setting. Some users found mixed results, but others succeeded.
It forced me to adjust my speed, which is what I noticed after checking the original version versus the current one.
