Everyone is having a great time with the complete lineup!
Last Friday CIG shared that they’re celebrating upcoming star citizens with a special offer. Every backer can test all five trainer ships at https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-...der-Lineup. I really enjoy them! The M50 and 350R are quick and agile, coming from an Aurora and 300i pilot (the Avenger is just around the corner). I’m especially fond of the Hornet—it feels like a fighter despite its slightly slower speed, and it’s great for its versatility. I’m not a racing fan, so I’ve mostly played in Battle Royale. I even reached 38th position [NJM-1112]. What do you think about everyone’s temporary ships?
I'm completely stuck if I keep going, and I'll likely just stop paying attention once it drops.
I wasn't aware of this before. However, I really enjoy Star Citizen so much. I purchased the Freelancer Package, though not the MIS version. I'm planning to buy the Cutlass soon, but I'm still undecided about which one.
It's best to start playing right away and try out various ships to understand their features—it's an enjoyable way to learn.
What's the reason for not sharing this in the Star Citizen forum?
I really enjoy the 350r—it outperforms the 300i in many ways, like fewer blackouts during quick turns, better speed to pursue other ships, and smoother escape options. The Hornet isn’t bad, but it lacks the agility of a 300i or 350r. Adding Class 2 gimbal mounts on the Mantis Gatlings to a 350r gives you solid firepower plus top-notch maneuverability. That ship is clearly the best choice. I’m thrilled CIG let everyone try all five models, which helps people pick the style they like and make smarter buying decisions. If this full selection hadn’t been released, I wouldn’t have thought about getting a 350r. Also, M50 ships are nearly impossible to hit—just relying on luck to take them down.
The M50s offered a great flying experience, cutting my lap times by about 40 seconds compared to the hornet. While I still love the hornets overall—especially with the new joystick and mouse controls—I’m excited to test the Freelancer MAX. Keep in mind it’s still in pre-alpha, so major changes are likely, and most features aren’t fully ready yet. It’s too early to judge the game completely because many systems are incomplete.
