Hello everyone, I just installed my new PC and left my RAM in. I'm curious if an upgrade would really make a difference. I currently have two non-RGB G.Skill Trident Z 16GB 3200MHz sticks. If upgrading is visible, I'd consider a 4x8GB RGB kit—maybe a bit more memory would help. I've heard that 3600MHz kits work well with Ryzen 5000 series chips. Alternatively, a 3200MHz kit with CL14 timings could be an option. Is upgrading something worth thinking about? The rest of my setup includes a Ryzen 9 5900X, Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro V2, 850W PSU, MSI RX6700XT, and a gaming X Gen4 SSD, plus a good airflow case.
The improvement you'd notice by changing from 3200 to 3600 MHz or from CL16 to CL14 is likely just a small percentage boost, barely perceptible. This represents the smallest measurable gain, with no noticeable difference in experience.

The biggest gains come from moving from 3200 to 3800, which really makes a difference. Beyond around 1900, things start to stand out. Unless you constantly check benchmarks, you probably won’t notice much.
For a 5900X the details count. It's not only about RAM speed. The infinity fabric clock connects to memclock, so with CPUs like the 5900X that have several CCDs, you need that communication path between them to be extremely quick. A 3600MHz CL16 is the minimum recommended for this model.
