I just put in a brand new Windows version and, following a friend’s advice, I also added Advanced SystemCare with its Speed Boost feature. I expected it to help push my older AMD FX-4300 CPU a bit faster. When I performed a complete system check, the software reported 9,798 browser vulnerabilities and 292 registry problems (refer to the attached file). Since this was a clean install, only a handful of programs were running and the most recent updates were applied—Chrome, Firefox, AVG Free, Steam, CCleaner, Advanced SystemCare, plus several mainstream games from Steam. After using CCleaner earlier and resolving some registry issues it had detected, I’m skeptical about these optimizers. My belief is they’re mostly just distractions meant to encourage downloading extra software and potential malware. I searched for benchmark results on these tools but didn’t find any credible tests. What are your opinions? Do you rely on third-party optimization programs? Which ones do you use and how effective do you think they are?

Unless there’s a genuine issue they can actually resolve, most system tuners and optimizers are essentially marketing hype. A few PC cleanup utilities do a decent job of freeing up space, which the regular user might appreciate (CCleaner).

It's odd when a fresh setup produces unexpected outcomes. The top optimizer avoids forcing users to buy paid upgrades.

I agree, I wasn't familiar with Advanced SystemCare before, but it looked genuine. It hasn't shown much impact so far, but it didn't attempt to install WeatherBug, which was nice.

I don’t feel confident about them. Make sure your Windows and drivers are updated. A fresh installation will always carry risks. Consider this: if there’s a better way to fine-tune Windows, wouldn’t the Microsoft Corporation already be handling it? They do have a kind of “gaming” feature for Windows 10, but it seems to work only on budget systems.

Razer Cortex functions well with a basic setup, but upgrading is recommended if your existing hardware isn’t handling it. Note: the system only pauses certain non-essential programs during gaming, and you can manage this manually—though Cortex simplifies the process.

The Gaming Mode optimization was included in the Fall Creators Update and is now available as part of the latest Windows 10 releases.

I’m ready to upgrade as soon as I can afford it. I already have everything I need for my new Ryzen 5 1600x setup except the CPU. I’m still saving up. While I wait, I’ll make the most of my old gaming rig’s performance before retiring it. I haven’t used Razer Cortex yet, but I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion!
