Your setup includes an i7 7700 with an RTX 2060. Switching to the AMD Ryzen 3600X could offer performance improvements, especially if you're using a bundled motherboard, CPU, and RAM package for about $430.

It varies based on the games and desired performance goals. The i7 7700 isn't a poor choice for gaming.

7700 non-K? The 3600X will be noticeably quicker, though results will vary based on your PC usage. For most games, performance gains won’t be significant—except for CPU-intensive titles like CS:GO or Minecraft. Tasks such as video editing could see improvements unless your software supports QuickSync. Ultimately, it depends on your specific needs. If you choose the 3600X, ensure you have high-speed memory (3200Mhz+) for optimal results.

would it be bad to go with 2666mhz ram ? the games i play i really feel a diffrence playing the games that are more cpu demanding and just upgrading to the 7700k would be about the same price as getting the 3600x with motherboard and 16 gb more ram i have also noticed that for example playing the new cod and other games my cpu is spiked at 100%

I understand it's not a weak chip, but it needs to be strong enough to work with the 2060. With a 3600X, I’m confident it can handle it even if I upgraded my GPU to a 2080Ti.

It really hinges on the specific games and what you're aiming for. My brother is using a Titan X Pascal, which is stronger than a 2060 and has a 7700, and it feels like a solid machine.

Aim to maximize your graphics card performance for smoother gameplay at higher frame rates.

The details really vary based on the game and desired performance, so it's not possible to provide a single standard FPS number. We need to consider specific factors for each title.

The game is still running smoothly at 1080p resolution.

I’m confident with that i7. Wait for the latest CPUs after the next generation, like the Ryzen 5000 lineup.
