I've been considering purchasing Europa Universalis IV for a while now, as most people who own it have spent hundreds of hours praising it. But I've also heard that the DLC is necessary for a satisfying experience. While I understand the value of the DLC, I'm hesitant to spend more than 15 euros on the game. It's currently available for 10€ for the standard version and 23€ for the collection with all the DLCs. Should I buy it or skip it? I haven't purchased the DLC recently since I bought Overwatch, and I don't want to overspend in such a short time.

The 23€ EUIV set only covers the initial stages of it. Paradox offers two types of DLC: cosmetic items that are mostly irrelevant, and expansions that add significant value. When they release expansions, most new features are integrated into the core game, though some remain restricted or unavailable for personal play. You can still enjoy the game without expansions, but a few advanced mechanics are essential for full experience. If you favor deep strategy games and are comfortable with custom goals (the gameplay is largely open-ended), it's definitely worth trying.

This seems to be my initial real strategy game experience, so I think I’ll manage without all the DLC for now, at least. Thanks!
