EU - Developing a 13700k system, choosing RAM and MB is challenging
I’m not planning to use AMD for this project. Costs are based in the EU, rounded up for shipping, but actual purchases will target better offers. This build is planned with the expectation that my next upgrade might require a completely different platform.
Processor – I7-13700k (450€) – no cooler research yet.
Graphics – 3080 10GB – already owned.
Power Supply – EVGA 750 G5 – already owned.
Case – Fractal Design Define 7 Compact Light (160€)
RAM – 32GB (2x16GB) – priority item
Motherboard – DDR4 setup led me to MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 (250€)
CPU – I already have a 12th generation processor.
Upgrade thoughts: I’m considering a full overclock to move from 13th gen, but I’ve never done it myself. Stability seems more important than peak speed.
RAM recommendation: At least 32GB is essential; DDR5 options are pricier and harder to find with solid performance.
PCIe slots: I need 3 M.2 slots, with two at least 4.0 x4. Wi-Fi would be nice.
Power requirements: I expect a decent PSU upgrade may be needed.
Casing: Dust filtration is important since it will sit close to the floor (15-20cm from desk).
Mounting: Will be placed near the back of my desk, slightly lower than current setup.
I’ve looked at BuildAPC threads but got limited details. Any suggestions on a suitable kit would be appreciated?

3) What motivates your desire to upgrade your CPU and RAM? Which software or tasks do you expect improved performance for?

Additionally, AMD is an option too—there are decent deals available there as well.
intel is a solid choice - i’d keep it simple. Right now i’m using 12400 with 3200mhz ram, thinking of a CL16. 2) PRIME Z690-PLUS D4 is a decent board, i’m sure of it. 3) For gaming and workstation multitasking, i’d prefer to stay under 500 on ram+mb. 4) EU overall is great, i can order from almost anywhere. Amazon.de seems like a solid starting point—old builds usually hold up, and i’ll check if friends have any parts to share.
There seems to be no valid reason for the current pricing and performance. Your setup appears sufficient, and continuing upgrades may not add value.
It's mainly about what feels best for you, though it seems a bit silly. I'm seeing performance limits when multitasking and gaming, so jumping from 12.4GHz to 13.7GHz might actually be a smart move. I appreciate the advice, will consider it, and keep it in mind.
