Hey, I still reached out a while ago but didn’t get a replay. Maybe someone here knows about a Mikrotik card that works as an Eternet router on a PCI-E slot for use in a server? The issue is there aren’t enough Ethernet ports to connect things like a KVM Pi or sensors inside a home-built server. I’m searching for a 1000Mb Ethernet switch that fits on a PCI-E card or can be mounted in a server case. I found one online – it looks pretty old – https://oringnet.com/en/products/industr...-igcs-e140. Thanks!

The switch might lack the capability to handle the required traffic or configuration needs for a normal gigabit Ethernet setup.

Everything should be simple for server housing. I’ll be x cheaper than renting anywhere in good old Europe.

There are many 1U rackmount switches supporting up to 48 ports available. I don’t know why a switch would require a PCIe card, honestly.

This means you'll need to cover another 1U cost, which could be more expensive than keeping just a Mini Mainboard inside the Server Case.

I need to clarify my current state so you understand correctly. Could you provide more details about what you're asking?

I plan to place a server in a server farm because power and WAN networking costs are high in my country. In our neighboring country, everything is more affordable. Since I won’t have direct access—especially due to distance—I need fully remote-controlled systems. That means everything must be housed inside a compact enclosure, similar to a PCI-E Pi KVM setup, a router (like a Mikrotik PCI-E card), and possibly other devices. Because each server rack height incurs a fee, minimizing the space inside the server is essential to save significantly on expenses.

Similar to a NIC featuring several connections? Check Intel's Ethernet server adapter page for details.

They're simple to locate when you search for the right item. (NICs, switches, and routers serve distinct functions.)
