10 megabits might not always be enough; Cat5 can sometimes face issues with Gigabit speeds, leading the port to revert to 100 meg for stability. Have you got a Cat5e or Cat6 cable to test?

I don't have a direct measurement, but I can help you optimize your connection or guide you on how to check your speed.

With a 120Mbps connection, your download speeds will typically stay under about 10MBps, even with a fast Ethernet link.

10 megabytes, with two cables—one connects to the wall using Cat5, and the other reaches your computer via Cat5e.

You're seeing a 100 meg connection through the wall. Do you have another device to test on that link? Make sure all eight cables are correctly attached at each end inside the wall. 10/100 Fast Ethernet uses just two pairs, while Gigabit Ethernet requires all four.
