Ethernet issue? Let me check.
I’ve kept my computer wired all the time without any problems. Recently, my Ethernet stopped working. The router and internet stayed functional on all devices. I swapped the Ethernet cable with a new one, but it didn’t fix the issue. When I connected the laptop, it worked perfectly, but my desktop still wouldn’t connect. On the network settings, there’s a Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility client prompt indicating the cable is plugged in. I’ve reset everything and checked the IPv4 settings, which always default to using the next address. Changing it back doesn’t seem to help. I’m feeling a bit stuck right now.
Did you turn on the machine? Checked Device Manager and used the search for hardware updates. Was a Windows update available? Did you install any new drivers?
Connecting your Ethernet cable affects your network and internet icon on Windows. Running ipconfig from the command line shows system details. Your PC may have MAC restrictions and will detect your Ethernet card.
The update release/renew indicates there’s no compatible adapter available. Inserting the Ethernet cable doesn’t alter anything; the icon displays airplane mode, which isn’t interactive. Mac settings are unclear—I checked the Cisco section but can’t understand it. I’m uncertain about the conditions, and after searching all day, I still have no idea.
I opened my PC this morning and it won’t even start. Windows attempted to fix itself automatically, but then an error appeared, and the system is completely unresponsive. I can’t recover anything and feel stuck with no options. The error message mentions a log file located at “D:\windows\system32\logfiles\Str\Strtrail.txt.”
