Ethernet Connection Problems
Ethernet Connection Problems
I recently assembled this PC and whenever I run BO6, the Ethernet link drops unexpectedly and restarts about 5 to 10 seconds after losing connection. To be truthful, I’m unsure if it happens only during gaming or all the time, especially since it switches back to Wi-Fi but becomes more apparent when playing. For reference: I’m using Windows 11 and my motherboard is an MSI - MPG Z790 EDGE WIFI.
You’ll need additional testing steps. Disable Wi-Fi fully during wired use. Perform a speed test to check performance under load, or download a Linux ISO (4-5 GB) and use a peer-to-peer network with limited peers (max 10). Apply Windows updates and observe connection stability. It may relate to DHCP lease timing—consider assigning a static IP outside Windows control panel settings. In the Control Panel, navigate to Network → Advanced → Change adapter options. Right-click your Ethernet adapter, select Properties. Under IP properties, replace automatic settings with a manual IP address. To set this correctly, identify your router’s IP via Command Prompt (type ipconfig; look for gateway). Enter a static IP and reconnect the Ethernet cable. If issues persist, toggle off Internet Protocol version 6 and re-enable the adapter.
