I've been trying to find a solution for this issue for about two weeks now. My computer was built in July with an MSI 970 gaming motherboard, and everything worked fine until the Ethernet port stopped functioning on Christmas day. After installing a new water cooler, the problem persisted. When I turned it back on, the Ethernet remained inactive. Over Christmas, I reset the system and it worked again. The next day, I noticed the Ethernet wasn't detected. I've been using a wireless adapter for two weeks now, which is really problematic. I spend a lot of time playing CS:GO and struggle to move around the map without any issues. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, tried various fixes, but nothing seems to help. I'm aware it shouldn't be a motherboard issue since it worked after a reset, but I didn’t turn it off properly the second time. I just forgot to shut it down overnight. Any advice would be appreciated!

Specs: NZXT S340 MSI 970 Gaming MSI GTX 970 Gaming AMD FX-8320e OC-4.0 EVGA 750W PSU Corsair H100i v2 2x4GB Kingston Hyperx 2x4GB Patriot. A few colored cable extenders. Sorry for the odd formatting, I posted on a different forum and didn<|pad|> to get no replies.

I previously owned this device. Please verify the drivers are installed for proper functionality.

I've revised the drivers many times. I used the top Ethernet drivers from the MSI site. Thanks for the quick reply.

Really, I’m not sure about that. I had the same motherboard and the same issue, trying to fix it. I installed a live update, then checked the Killer Ethernet drivers and downloaded them (the one that didn’t include any additional files). After that, for some unexplained reason, the Ethernet worked fine. I’m hoping it helped, but I think luck played a role here.

When your Ethernet port is plugged in, you should notice a tiny indicator nearby (immediately after insertion). Does it illuminate with a yellow/amber or green light? Probably just a basic check—ensure the cable is intact and verify your network settings are active.

Here are the drivers I used: [insert driver names or links]. Let me know if you need anything else.

It's been over five years since I last owned that board. Consider trying the Killer Network Driver (driver only) or this updated version. More options are available at MSI 970 Gaming Drivers. Keep in mind, my 970 gaming briefly caught fire, though I had previously handled it well.
