I own a laptop that’s a bit average, running an Intel HD3000. I mainly play CSGO while at school, and my main machine at home is way more powerful. I’m wondering if Steam OS works well with Intel HD graphics. Will using Steam OS give me any performance gains over Windows 7? Also, have the problems with Steam OS been resolved? To be honest, I mostly play CSGO during lunch breaks.

The laptop dates back to around 2010-2011, and I'm looking for ways to use it now.

Steam OS delivers similar performance to Debian while running Steam on top. This essentially means you might notice slightly better speed if your machine is under heavy load. However, keep in mind that the experience won’t be dramatically different from other Linux distributions. Still, give it a shot—there’s always value in trying new setups.
