Errors in memory during memtest86 execution
Those are the components I was talking about: CPU SA, CPU VDDQ, and CPU VDD2. In practice the PLL voltages might also assist, but I haven’t noticed them affecting performance at speeds below 7200, so it’s unlikely they’ll make a difference. I just realized I misread something earlier. You mentioned using a single stick in slot 2 that works, another individually in slot 4 that works, but swapping them doesn’t help. The problem you’re facing isn’t unusual—though still strange—but often stems from IMC instability. The odd part is that you’re running at such a low memory speed that IMC instability shouldn’t occur. If adjusting it to 1.41V resolves the issue, I’d just accept it and skip further testing. I’d run a bit more stability checks, maybe an hour of VT3 and another hour with TestMem5.
Up until now I've successfully kept the RAM functioning without issues at reduced voltage. I picked up a great deal from the guides, though some configurations remained confusing. It appears to operate quite well now with DRAM Frequency set to 6200MHZ (errors appeared when testing 6400 even at 1.5V). The DRAM voltage is 1.35V and VDDQ is 1.290V relative to CPU VDDQ at 1.250V, with CPU VDD2 at 1.35V. Timings are: Command Rate 2N tCL 30, tRCD 38, tRCCDW 38, tRP 38, tRAS 50. The spoiler contains a detailed list of voltages and timings from the BIOS. I omitted any changes I didn't make. In the spoiler DRAM Setting Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) is turned off. DRAM Reference Clock at 100MHz. CPU IMC uses DRAM Clock, Gear2 set to 1/2 (Gear2). DRAM Frequency adjusted to 6200MHz. Load Memory Presets are disabled. Try it out! Memory Extension Mode and Fast Boot are also off. Voltage settings: CPU SA 1.260V, CPU VDDQ 1.250V, CPU VDD2 1.356V. Main configuration: DRAM Timing Mode linked via a link. Memory Fast Boot is disabled. I've learned much from the tutorials but still need to experiment further. Testmem5 with usmus_v3 for about 15 minutes shows no errors while keeping RAM temperature below 50°C (previously it exceeded 41°C at 1.41V). I also need to review CPU settings, though I'm satisfied the RAM is stable so far.
