Error with voltage, no startup or boot, CPU light is illuminated
Merged update – Delliejonut’s report:
Over voltage warning, no start, CPU LED illuminated.
Specs – Motherboard ASUS Prime Z270-A, PSU EVGA Nex650G, CPU i7700k.
First boot in BIOS, found CPU overclock settings and activated them for cooling. Voltage rose 15%. Restart triggered an over-voltage alert. BIOS briefly loaded before shutting down.
Restarted again; CPU LED and DRAM flash appeared in sequence but nothing happened. Restarted motherboard, rechecked connections, moved RAM, but issue persisted.
Merged version of the text:
The issue involves an over-voltage warning, a constantly lit CPU LED, and failure to boot. The system shows specs for an ASUS Prime Z270-A motherboard, EVGA Nex650G power supply, i7700k CPU. After initial boot in BIOS with overclock settings, voltage increased by 15%. A restart triggered an over-voltage error, causing the screen to enter BIOS briefly before shutting down. Restarting again led to CPU LED and fan indicators flashing in sequence, but no boot occurred. Resetting the BIOS by removing the battery resolved the problem, allowing the system to start properly with the CPU LED staying on. All fans and LEDs functioned normally, though the PC still couldn't reach BIOS.
I encountered a similar issue with a brand new motherboard, the Asus Maximus Extreme IX. The BIOS required a re-flash to resolve the problem, which worked perfectly. My setup was identical to yours. After connecting the BIOS via an external USB, it booted up correctly. Good luck!
