Error that cannot be fixed.
I frequently encounter a rapid Whea Uncorrectable Error BSOD while playing games. It occurs unpredictably and even when switching tabs via Alt Tab. A stress test didn’t reproduce the issue, and a memory check found no RAM problems. I’ve reinstalled Windows and drivers already. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Typically WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR points to a hardware problem. This might involve your power supply unit, graphics card, motherboard, etc. Based on my past experiences, I’d start with a different PSU and consider removing RAM sticks to test more easily. I don’t rely on Windows memory checks; tools like MemTest86 are common but can’t guarantee results on the first try. Running multiple tests is usually needed, so I often remove one stick at a time to see if stability returns quickly. Simple and effective.
MemTest86 offers a more thorough setup and usage process, though it is considered more reliable. Minor issues on the initial attempt are not certain and may stem from unstable memory behavior that can lead to crashes without clear diagnosis. Keeping spare hardware nearby can be advantageous since physically replacing components might resolve problems faster than troubleshooting software fixes.
Preparing to test the software. I executed Prime95 and Superposition simultaneously without any crashes, but when running games it still stops after a while. This is puzzling.
I noticed artificial loads don't fully capture stability in all situations. Each workload has its own needs, not every type covering everything. Do you have any spare hardware available? It seems the issue might relate to the GPU or motherboard—RAM is often straightforward to exclude. Have you used any overclocking methods recently? If so, it’s best to turn them off during testing to avoid errors.
I also checked MemTest and everything passed without issues. I updated the BIOS last night and cleared all overclocks and XMP settings, and the GPU was reset too. The problem seems to be with the games that triggered BSODs—they were all running from the same drive. Could that be the cause?
Moved the file to another drive, started the game, but it crashed without a BSOD. It seems the issue is happening across multiple drives, possibly indicating a faulty motherboard. Warranty expired about a week ago. The driver reported a controller error on \Device\RaidPort1.
