Hello everyone. I’m facing some strange problems with my PC. Today I upgraded it to an X99A MSI board, equipped with a CPU and 32GB of RAM. Initially, it wouldn’t boot because both drives were placed incorrectly—so I removed one 16GB stick and it worked fine. After that, I swapped the remaining stick back in, but realized they were still in the wrong slots. When I powered it on, it displayed 32GB RAM but failed to recognize my storage devices. I cleared the CMOS and then booted into BIOS, where it showed 32GB RAM but didn’t detect any drives. After resetting the CMOS, it booted again with the drives detected. Once I selected a SATA slot (port 1, boot drive), the PC displayed a bootcode error AF on the motherboard. It stayed on for about a minute before shutting off, though the power supply remained active. I noticed the keyboard was still on but the fans stopped and the lights went out. I cut the power by flipping the wall outlet switch—it wasn’t affected by the reset or power button. After that, it wouldn’t power back up, as if no electricity reached it. I reinserted the RAM and wiped the CMOS multiple times, finally getting it to turn on after an hour of repeated attempts. Once it did, the AF error persisted, and it still supplied power to the keyboard. Despite trying everything—clearing CMOS, reseating cables, checking fuses, and even testing with a multimeter—I still can’t get it to restart properly. I’m stuck with this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I can’t revert to my old Z97 board as it’s non-functional. If anyone knows of a working Z97 or X99 board in the UK for sale, I’d be happy to purchase it.
Kingston Fury 32GB 3200MHz (16x2) was purchased brand new from Amazon last week. It started up to the desktop with one stick, then when I inserted another it booted into BIOS but didn’t recognize the storage drives. Removing the sticks still prevents power-on.

Have you checked for BIOS updates? Also, X99 boards can cause problems if the BIOS chip fails, leading to confusing issues. So far, my X99 board has gone through three chips. Fortunately, they’re inexpensive and come preloaded online. Also, are you using just two sticks on the X99? That seems a bit odd.
Yep, mine would refuse to boot, I got the board and 5960x for free cause the ower thought it was fucked. I played around with it for a little while then forgot about it, finally did some googling and found out the common issue with te chips, bought a chip, well multiple because they were so cheap and it just worked perfectly... until it didn't and I had to replace the chip again
