Hey there, I've been working late trying to fix this laptop. So far I managed to install Windows XP from a thumb drive (no CD-ROM), but now I'm dealing with the Wifi setup. I upgraded to Service Pack 3 to support WPA2-PSK networks, then added a new Qualcomm Atheros AR5B125 adapter. However, when I download the official drivers, I keep getting BSODs whenever XP connects to a Wi-Fi network. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue? I really need it fixed soon so I can proceed with the remaining software.

I seized the opportunity with a driver package designed for Windows 7, and I was amazed when it functioned flawlessly for me!

I understand the situation has persisted for nearly five years since you discovered the fix, and you're still experiencing the same problem with the wireless card. Do you have the driver package link handy, or do you recall where you obtained it?
