I recently acquired a new PC with better specifications than my current main system. I considered transferring some of the RAM from my new machine to mine. Since both used DDR4, I didn’t expect any issues. However, after installing the RAM from my new PC, error codes appeared on the motherboard during startup. I removed the RAM and reinstalled it in my original PC. Once powered back on, the same error codes persisted. I experimented with the RAM, turning it on and off for an hour, but it would freeze or crash afterward. Continued adjustments didn’t resolve the problem. Eventually, a factory reset seemed necessary. It worked temporarily, but then it changed behavior—displaying error codes or locking up repeatedly. Now I’m unsure what to do next and hope someone can assist.

I attempted to use a single RAM stick, which functioned properly for two days before displaying a blue screen. Now, during startup, it presents the error code AC. The motherboard in question is an Asus Maximus Hero X with Wi-Fi AC support.

Ensure the ram is removed and thoroughly cleaned before insertion, avoiding any hairs in the slots to prevent problems.

I would recommend using a can of compressed air to blow the slots to ensure they are clean, are you having issues in both pc with the same set of ram?

I removed the RAM from my new PC and installed it in my main system. Both computers used DDR4 RAM, but the serial numbers differed. I didn’t notice anything unusual until after installation, when the system began malfunctioning.

Reset the system by removing the CMOS battery, then power on using your initial RAM.

I reset the CMOS settings on your computer and after that using a single RAM module still triggers the error codes CC and 55. Then, when you install both RAMs in the standard configuration, the same codes appear again with the error Ab.
