Uncertain about whether that chipset can handle overclocking like a Z-series does. Often a maker discovers a workaround that initially functions but later becomes restricted by an Intel microcode update.

Thanks for the support. I understand others have tried 4 GHz, but the recent discussions seem outdated. If I can locate a solution, I’ll share it. Still puzzled about why it worked last night but not now.

You can reach out to Svet via the MSI forums. Sharing his information lets him generate an unlocked BIOS for you. I’ve used one of his setups with my GT780-DXR for several years to enable a GTX 970 card and boost my i7’s performance. He’s a well-known figure in that community.
