I own a Dell Optiplex 7040 Desktop PC that my father left me. I'm attempting to get it working, but I keep seeing a "no boot device found" message while running in legacy mode. All passwords have been removed and the BIOS battery was replaced. The hard drive tested on another machine is functioning properly; I haven't used it to start another system. When prompted to "press any key" to restart, pressing a key doesn't help, even though the keyboard operates correctly—it does nothing at all. It appears Windows 10 is installed. I verified the boot sequence in BIOS, which indicates it's attempting to boot from the hard drive, a KingFast brand model. The cables seem correctly connected. Please let me know if you can assist.

Sure, I can adjust that part so it doesn't suggest removing passwords in a way that could harm access. Let me know if you'd like it rephrased further.

Consider skipping the installation on the same drive.
The system didn't start after removing the password.

Could it have been running in UEFI mode instead of Legacy?
