This began a few weeks ago following a Steam client update. It appears to be a bug that many users might overlook since it doesn’t affect those who don’t use Steam chat. Usually I had to close and reopen Steam chat, but yesterday it caused a black screen when trying to close an image—PC wasn’t fully usable. I repeatedly tried to access the restart menu with Ctrl+Alt+Del, though I’m not sure. After checking, I suspect it’s not a hardware issue or a critical error. I’ve found similar problems in other games, not related to Steam chat, and they seem linked to driver issues (even though I didn’t update drivers). Anyone else experienced something like this? Maybe it’s happening in games too?

This occurs occasionally on my iPhone when browsing with Safari.

Steam works well for you. Consider joining the Steam beta if you haven't already, or opt out if you're already participating.

Sure, my friend also mentioned they didn’t see anything... That sounds like a good plan. I might clear the cache too—though it logs you out, oof. Installing new drivers could help as well. I’m not sure where to start, but I appreciate the help.

I should have been more specific, but occasionally off Steam, just using Safari's click-to-image feature can disrupt my experience and cause a black screen. This is similar to what you mentioned, but it doesn't happen on Steam.
