Hello,
I’m wondering if this is the right forum to share this issue.
I’m a regular MMORPG enthusiast, particularly for FF14. I own both a gaming laptop and a gaming desktop.
During recent gameplay sessions on my gaming desktop (a system that’s been around for about two to three months now), I’ve repeatedly encountered these persistent DirectX 11 crashes in the middle of battles—standing still while the game loads, with no progress.
These errors have been sporadic but can last several hours or longer during gameplay.
I checked the FF14 tech forums, but nothing I tried there worked. Would someone be willing to help me investigate further?
I’ll include my system details below, but if you need exact specs just let me know.
I’m relatively new to these forums and unsure how to post about DxDiag or system information without violating any rules.
My PC was installed myself with assistance from a family member, so I can also access the tower if needed.

What I’ve tried so far:
- Reinstalled FF14 on C and G drives (both M.2)
- Ran FF14 as administrator with optimizations turned off
- Reinstalled graphics drivers for my Nvidia RTX 4090; tested Nvidia versions 546.33–546.29 but issues persist
- Used DDU in safe mode to remove drivers and restarted Windows between installs
- Ran Windows Memory Test, passed all tests
- Played at 1440p, reduced graphics settings
- Disabled Intel speedstep in BIOS
- Avoided background apps (browsers, tabs, etc.)
- Updated Windows 11 and other software
- Updated drivers for additional hardware

This is the only game where I’ve noticed these problems. Other titles run smoothly even with outdated graphics drivers. For instance, Baldur’s Gate 3 works without issues.
My desktop uses an RTX 3070 Ti; at 1440p with similar settings it never crashes. I’m fairly sure the problem is specific to my setup.

System details:
- Model: MOBO asus rog strix z790-E
- BIOS version: 0813
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) @ 4800MHz CL40
- CPU: Intel i9-13900k (not overclocked)
- GPU: MSI Gaming RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6x Tri 24G
- Storage: Western Digital 2TB SN850X M.2 x2
- Power Supply: EVGTA Supernova 1600 P+ 1600W or Corsair RM1000x 1000W

Fans/Controllers: CORSAIR iCUE Commander Core XT, Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix XT 360mm
OS: Windows 11 Pro 10.0.22631 Build 22631

Sorry, I should have included that in my post initially. I added screenshots of what I usually see. The main error I receive is the first one: "A fatal DirectX error has occurred.(11000002)."
