Error in screen resolution detection
Error in screen resolution detection
I use a Windows 11 laptop with an external monitor connected through HDMI. Occasionally, when I power on or wake up from sleep, the display resolution shifts unpredictably between both screens. For instance, the laptop screen changes from 1920x1080 to 1366x768, while the external monitor switches from 2560x1440 to 1920x1080. This issue occurs even though I've adjusted the display settings to extend the desktop and maintain native resolutions. Every time it happens, I have to manually adjust the resolution in the display settings. It's quite frustrating. I've updated the graphics drivers and BIOS, but the problem still exists. What might be causing this? How can I resolve it?
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
What is the make and model of your laptop? An SKU would help us understand it's specs. As for your external panel, what is it's make and model? Check and see if the laptop has a BIOS update pending.
As for your GPU, you should use DDU to remove all GPU drivers, then manually reinstall with the latest GPU driver from GPU maker's support site, in an elevated command.
