Error encountered with MSI Mobo D6 device.
Team, just when I believed I was moving forward, my MSI Z390 Meg Ace is now causing a D6 error (no console output detected). The past few days have been really stressful, beginning with this setup (9900k + 3080ti + MSI Z390) that’s causing major issues. We tried playing Kena Bridge of Spirits and suddenly got a black screen with no output. After a restart, Windows logs indicated nvlddmkm.sys stopped responding, but I managed to boot the GPU. I restarted Kena again, but before reaching the game, the screen went black and displayed nine blue dots in the lower right corner. At first I assumed the 3080ti was malfunctioning, but the next day my girlfriend noticed her PC had died in the same way—her system was a 8086k + 2080ti with a Z390 Aorus. It’s unlikely two GPUs failed so quickly. Both PCs could boot into Windows briefly, but the black screen followed almost instantly. After several attempts, I reinstalled Windows on her 8086k + 2080ti system, which worked smoothly for a while. I then tried it on the 9900k + 3080ti setup, but after updates and a few Furmark tests it crashed again. Eventually, I removed the faulty GPU from my spare system and installed a new one. This time it ran without problems at 4K resolution. Now I’m back to the original 3080ti issue. To confirm, I disconnected the loop, swapped the GPU into another machine, and it booted normally. At that point, the 3080ti was still running but without a display. I’m now considering it might be a bad riser cable—my case uses a Hyte Y60 and the GPU is placed vertically. Any suggestions? I’m running low on these units! P.S.—the MSI Z390 Meg Ace lacks HDMI or DP output, so iGPU testing isn’t possible.
