You're asking about the safety of updating your ASRock BIOS for a Ryzen 3 1200 processor, specifically mentioning Pinnacle, Raven, or Summit Ridge CPUs.

When MB produces the product, avoid using uppercase letters except for "5.4." Continue with version 5.4 until the new chip arrives in the system. Have you set up the drivers as described in 5.4? When you extract the BIOS archive and place it on the USB drive, does it contain only a single file or multiple files within a folder? Have you tested the black USB ports located on the back of the machine? Have you considered using another USB device?

I put the drivers into a compressed folder, but I'm unsure if I should extract them or not. For the BIOS update files, they're also in a zip folder with one file inside. I've attempted to use the zip, unzip, and even just the USB file, and switched to a different USB stick without success.

the BIO update zip contains a subfolder, and the file resides within that subfolder

Risk is minimal, but I'm particularly concerned if the motherboard isn't covered by the exchange or warranty period. To confirm the file wasn't damaged during writing, re-download it from ASRock's site. Update the motherboard's BIOS to version 5.4, then install the latest driver for your new processor.

The driver was successfully installed. Please unzip the file and remove it from the folder before inserting it onto the USB drive. Ensure only the BIOS update file is present on the USB. Connect the USB to a black USB port on the back; sometimes MB BIOS performance drops when reading from USB3.

The video confirms it detects the system but fails to recognize it. You accessed it through either F2 or F6. On the main page, the UEFI version displayed is listed as "UEFI v2.4.0-1".
