Error encountered while gaming. System crash occurred.
Hello, I've noticed frequent BSOD crashes while gaming on my 1080Ti with an i7 8700K PC. It began a few weeks back and has become more common. Playing Dota helped temporarily, but it failed after a short session. Other demanding games like High on Life caused crashes right after the intro due to high polygon models. I've kept an eye on temperatures – GPU stays around 70-80°C, CPU near mid-70s. My hard drive is an old Seagate that stopped working about three days ago; it came back after restarting but then disappeared again. After removing it and trying to reinstall, the issue persisted. I played Dota at full settings without problems, but Uncharted 4 caused a recurrence. The faulty HDD isn’t plugged in, and I was close to replacing it. I also reinstalled Windows 11, yet the problem continues. Crash logs aren’t being recorded after BSOD, making troubleshooting difficult. I’m really stressed about identifying the hardware issue or deciding what to replace. TL;dr: BSOD occurred during gaming. Windows reinstall didn’t fix it. Disconnecting the bad HDD didn’t help. The crash logs aren’t available. Help would be greatly appreciated. Specs: Intel i7 8700K, Asus Z370-E, 32GB RAM, Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti GPU, Corsair RM850X PSU, Windows 11 (64-bit), 4-5 years old.
I’m not familiar with the event viewer, only recently learned about it. People say it creates dump files, but I don’t see that folder here. I haven’t overclocked my CPU, so I’m unsure if the problem is hardware wear. My GPU temperatures when idle are a bit high, which could suggest an issue there. Since I don’t have another GPU to test, it’s a bit concerning.
