It was definitely a prebuilt system. Now it consists of many spare parts in a broken setup.

I pressed “Try Ubuntu”. The system stopped right at the mouse cursor, but neither the mouse nor the keyboard reacted to num lock or movement.

Beyond the motherboard, what other specifications are there? CPU, power supply model, memory kit, storage devices, etc.? How recent is this system, and is it still covered by warranty or is it past its expiration date? Has it functioned correctly for a while before suddenly stopping, or has it always been unreliable?

This Corsair Vengeance PC has developed some unexpected issues. I considered returning it but received a notice that I’d be out of the machine for two to four weeks, which wasn’t something I could manage at the time. It initially functioned properly but began showing signs of bluescreening, requiring frequent reinstallation of Windows or regular resets. The error messages suggested the graphics card might be faulty, which I replaced and it worked for about ten days. However, I suspect that might have been a coincidence. To prevent sending it, I added more RAM and an additional SSD to my system. With another graphics card, I thought I could pinpoint the problem and avoid returning it unless it was related to the motherboard.

I’ve had trouble with the SSDs as the system started crashing during Windows updates. Now, the machine freezes completely when running Ubuntu, even though no SSDs are present. It’s difficult to determine what’s malfunctioning due to my lack of understanding or mistakes, and what’s broken outright. For example, Ubuntu can run in preloaded RAM but freezes with the new RAM, while the newer sticks seem to cause errors.

I was hoping to find someone to help isolate the problem, but I suspect there are several people involved now. The old RAM is Vengeance DDR5 5600MT/s, the new RAM is Vengeance DDR5 6000MT/s, the old GPU is Nvidia 3070, and the new one is Nvidia 3050 (though it’s considered weaker). The old SSD is MP1000, while the new one is WD Black 500GB.

I’m struggling to understand the Ubuntu errors because they keep changing so often. The power supply is a Corsair RM750e.

Here’s another point. With just one stick of RAM and no SSD, I can start Ubuntu, but only if I enable the “nomodeset” option each time I power on. I plan to let it operate in that mode to capture any system issues (which seems very probable). Without the flag, the system freezes during the Ubuntu startup screen.

And it has ALREADY not been working worth a crap, for how long?
The point being, stop it. Send it back. Get it RIGHT. There is NO reason YOU should have to deal with this on a system that is under warranty unless YOU DID SOMETHING that caused it. If not, then quit quibbling and send it back. Let them fix the problem that likely has nothing to do with you in the first place. Back up anything important as far as specific files for your installed programs that you've invested time in, and your game files, if any. Then figure out another way to get by for the two weeks. Use your phone or another machine if need be. There is NO reason for you to be dealing with this if it's a hardware problem or something related to the software installations THEY did.
If you know that it is YOU, or something YOU did, then we can just disregard this, maybe, still might be worth doing, and move on. But honestly, if you can get them to make it right it would be foolish to not do so.
