I'm trying to switch from Windows 11 to 10 using an original USB drive and a Windows key. After installation and restarting, I keep seeing recovery messages and get back to the Windows boot menu. The install process seems to complete fine, but everything feels off. All my drives are working properly. What might be happening?

It was originally purchased with a computer in 2018 and I used it just once for installing Windows.

I'll use a different computer to execute the tool and download the latest Windows version from the installer, after which I'll install that updated build.

I’d create a fresh USB installer. Ignoring the risks, the 10 version would be outdated and lack key updates. This way you’ll skip the hassle of Windows Update and get it done faster.

I'll give it a shot this evening, just in case. If not, things could get tough.

I've encountered that display before due to a specific Windows problem. Have you attempted to set up Windows with multiple connected drives on your machine? Windows sometimes installs parts of the OS drive onto different storage devices. When installed on one drive, it writes boot information to the others immediately. If the computer detects this boot data, it assumes that's where Windows should start. However, if the installation changed or was removed, you now see the screen you're experiencing when attempting to boot. Try this: remove all connected drives except the one you plan to use, install Windows there, and ensure no other drives are attached. You might find it functions correctly then. Just keep an eye on any reconnections of additional drives—there could be a hidden boot partition involved.

I own both an SSD and an HDD, but can't set up Windows because of another error. So it should be the HDD unless you have experience with repairs.

I'm sorry, I don't understand how to resolve this issue with your BIOS settings.

You bypassed the hard drive setup and immediately proceeded with the Windows installation process.
