I put W7 on my brother's computer and everything functioned properly until I upgraded Windows, then it showed an error saying the BOOTMGR was missing. Really frustrating.

You just have to reinstall the Windows bootloader. Online tutorials exist, but the authentic installation media is likely required.

@TehMiik remember to follow your own subjects! Otherwise you'll miss updates. Is there a USB drive connected? If yes, unplug it and attempt again.

Ensure no flash drives or CDs are connected, verify the BIOS points to the right drive, confirm proper connection, rebuilding the BCD might help, a fresh OS installation could resolve the issue
