Hello, I recently assembled a new PC and noticed the CPU lights flickering. After reinstalling the chipset and configuring everything, I ran 3D Mark and later encountered a BSOD that caused the system to freeze. Now that I power it on again, the CPU diagnostic light appears once more. Could you help me with this issue? Thanks.
Cheap, low-quality power supplies can lead to unusual problems. Consider using an EVGA 1000W unit for reliability. If it resolves the issue, return the old one for warranty coverage. Updated July 27, 2022 by SiliconMagician – correction made.
You're unsure about the issue until you attempt it, based on your own trials. From what I've seen, unusual problems often arise after running the system under heavy load, consuming significant power and potentially damaging a weak power supply. The original poster hasn't tested any components, so we should start with the most probable cause—a low-cost or faulty power supply. Even reputable brands like EVGA can occasionally produce defective units that fail early. Putting the system under stress is unlikely to trigger CPU issues unless he's intentionally overclocking, which isn't the case here.
if a new PSU addresses his issue, then as I mentioned before, the power supply should be returned for repair because it isn’t performing its intended role. if the hardware functions well and is dependable, I don’t discard it; instead, I keep two rubbermaid drawers filled with old but fully working hard drives to demonstrate this point. When a power supply fails, starting with an RMA is the best approach instead of throwing it away right away
Thanks! I'm excited about my new Corsair 850x and B550 MSI gaming carbon WiFi setup.
