Error during Windows activation following a hardware replacement.
Hi everyone,
I recently transferred my old PC components to my parents’ machine to enable a Windows 11 upgrade. I kept only the two hard drives, while they were using Windows 10 Home and I had a Windows 10 Pro for Workstations license.
After swapping the hardware, Windows displayed an error about no product key found (code 0xC004F211). I attempted to use the previous key from my parents, but it returned a different error (0x803FA067). I also tried using my own Pro key, but that didn’t resolve the issue.
I’m wondering how to re-activate Windows with their original Home license now that the hardware has changed.
Thanks in advance!
I changed all components except the two hard drives. You need to reinstall the OS and enter the license key at the prompt.
Sign in using your MS account on the parents PC. Local accounts won't work here.
Administrative access is required for this account.
Ensure the account was used prior to the hardware upgrade so the license connects properly.
Run the Windows activation troubleshooter.
Note that the hardware has been replaced.
I believe the issue lies with an OEM key, preventing Windows activation on new hardware. Is there a solution?
