preparation: using an amd 3600 msi b450 tomahawk bios e7c02ams.1io with dell 3060, i’m installing windows 10 22h2 from a usb created with rufus. the process completes when using a 16gb stick in either port, but encounters issues with a 32gb stick. each installation has unique errors. tests included: 16gb in both slots – successful; 32gb slot 1 & 2 – passed; 32gb slot 3 & 4 – failed; various xmp and bios settings tried. any adjustments in the bios might help, or should i consider a different board? Increase the default memory speeds. The RAM type is Ryzen 3600, which typically doesn't handle very fast RAM configurations. Consider enabling XMP/EXPO and using higher timings.

Check the compatibility chart for your motherboard. Choose the CPU model and review available options to confirm your RAM fit. Likely, it won’t support 2x16GB modules.

The ram is the Patriot Viper 16GB model PVS416G300C6, 1.35V and can support 2x16GB for Patriot. The voltage is currently 1.2V—can I lower it on my dimmer to make it work? The page you shared explains more about the motherboard support. Other 16GB dimmer types usually use 1.35V. Running a test with a different CPU, like the Ryzen 3100, might help identify any issues.

Second install succeeded, RAM placed correctly for dual channel and reinstallation went well. Third install also finished successfully after driver updates. Previously experienced crashes and BSODs, but now stable. Updated notes on June 22, 2023 by acolis

Used another chipset and an older cooler, no issues. Returned 3600 to the socket with the old cooler, likely due to cooler problems causing pressure issues. Switched to an NHD15S and it worked. For now. Short summary: the problem was the cooler, possibly overpressuring things. Planned to upgrade to a 5600 later.
