I recently purchased a 9900K and a Maximus Formula XI board. I acquired a GSkill 128GB RAM kit (four 32GB modules at 3600MHz C18, F4-3600C18Q-128GVK). I'm experiencing frequent BSOD errors related to RAM (Memory Management, Unexpected end of stack). Any suggestions on possible causes? So far I've performed an Intel Burn Test at full speed, Linpack Extreme with 10GB for ten runs (then 30GB for five), Cinebench R23 for an hour, and Memtest86+ for ten hours. All tests completed successfully with CPU temperatures around 70-75°C. I updated the BIOS to the latest version, followed the ASUS default settings (which enable Multicore enhancement) and applied XMP 2 for the RAM profile. Despite this, I still face random BSODs after letting the system idle. Now Windows only stays open for five minutes before freezing. I've considered overheating by adding a fan over the RAM and VRM, but the issue persists. I also tried running the CPU at stock speed (no Multicore enhancement) and without XMP at 2666MHz, yet crashes continue. Additionally, the BIOS now blocks posting entirely, displaying "The System has posted in safe mode."

Test one stick of ram in a single slot on the motherboard rinse and repeat with different sticks and slots and see if the issue persists. Also is this a fresh install of Windows or is it the same Windows install from before your upgrades?

It could be the IMc attempting to handle four 32GB drives at such rapid speeds—it's already challenging enough to function smoothly at lower rates. If you manage to set XMp, adjust the frequency manually to 3200MHz and see if it improves performance.

Will try one stick at a time, good point there. This is a clean install of Windows Server 2022 Standard (Yes, I run windows server as my personal PC OS). It also does it with Windows 10 when I was testing it. It would suck if the memory controller can't handle the kit. The whole reason of upgrading was to get more RAM.

Fixed by turning on XMP, but RAM speed was set to 3400MHz. No issues have occurred. Edit: Eventually it deteriorated, remaining stable only at 2666MHz under XMP settings with 1.37v and DRAM voltage. I discovered a random Amazon review noting that RAM order affected performance—each pair must share the same channel. For the 4-pack from GSkill, the top two needed matching channels. I labeled each stick, rearranged them, and posted at 3600MHz with XMP (which I hadn’t managed before). I ran Testmem5 on anta777’s Extreme profile for two cycles, Linpack Extreme on 10GB for five passes, 30GB for two, and Intel Burn Test at full speed—now everything runs smoothly. Further adjustments later. The RAM still had problems, but GSKill confirmed the issue was faulty. I replaced it and everything is now working perfectly. This is the first time I’ve encountered defective RAM.
