A month prior I acquired a new GPU to swap in for my previous RX580, which I had previously given to a friend and fitted with an RTX 3070 and a water block. I ran benchmarks using timeSpy and observed temperatures between 28-38°C without any crashes, so I felt confident. However, after a week, the GPU began crashing during game loading or midway through a game, showing a black screen while the PC remained operational. Restarting resolved the issue temporarily. About a week later, repeated restarts were necessary for the PC to boot correctly whenever a crash occurred. I suspected a driver-related problem and attempted reinstalling drivers for the motherboard, CPU, and GPU using a DDU. Unfortunately, this did not help and the crashes persisted. I also tried re-sitting the GPU, reseating all connections, but nothing resolved the issue. Recently, while playing Rainbow Six Siege, the GPU crashed again, prompting me to restart my PC to check for VGA errors on the motherboard. I’m unsure if this was a permanent failure or just a temporary glitch. What should I do next? (I can send photos if needed.)
Assessing the likelihood of the leak and death, consider removing all non-essential components to ensure success. If needed, reset the BIOS by flashing a clean one instead of changing CMOS. Update the system as a last resort. Only proceed with what’s truly necessary for the process.
