Hello, I recently upgraded my PC to a 10900k with a Corsair H150i cooler. When I first booted up, it showed a CPU fan error, though the AIO is working perfectly and all other fans are fine. I double-checked the pin connectors and confirmed they were correctly installed. I turned off CPU fan monitoring, but the issue persists—Intel Performance Maximizer blocks faster speeds because one fan isn’t running properly. I’m still trying to figure it out and thought about asking for advice. It seems the problem might be with the CPU fan not being monitored at all. If I turn monitoring back on, my PC won’t exceed post. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Check the manual for the "cpu_fan" header location on your motherboard. Connect the AIO pump or any fan there, or use a random fan if needed.
It doesn't matter if the AIO is linked to the CPU fan; all my chassis fans are properly connected. I've tried rearranging everything without success.
Really surprising. I expected just linking a fan like the chassis fan into the header would help. If anything connects to the header, should it show up in the BIOS settings? Also, what does Intel Performance Enhancer do, and why are you opting for it over manual overclocking in BIOS?
intel performance enhancer is essentially an intel driver designed to boost performance automatically, bypassing the need for BIOS setup. It performs fan tests to ensure optimal clock speeds and prevents overheating. The system indicates CPU fan errors even when fans are connected, possibly because the AIO radiator fans share a common header. The motherboard might be useful. Have you updated the BIOS? There could be a frustrating glitch. I haven’t encountered anything similar before. On my Asus board, you should verify the "min cpu fan rpm" setting—if it’s too low, it triggers the error. Make sure it isn’t set too high, but otherwise your knowledge seems limited.
