i've reinstalled windows 10 because of a boot loop after the creators update, and now i'm facing several frustrating problems. initially, my third screen (benq xl2420t connected via dp) no longer displays the 1920x1080 resolution—this isn't showing in windows display settings or the nvidia control panel. instead, it only shows a few options: gpus are listed as 2 980s in sli (evga gtx 980 sc acx 2.0). i'm using driver version 378.49, but i also tried the latest one after installing fresh. when i uninstalled via ddu and reinstalled 378.49, it briefly showed the 1920x1080 resolution, but then returned to the same issue after a couple of days. i've also tested different dp cables and other gpu ports, but nothing helped. running hdmi to the monitor still shows 1920x1080 without problems, and it seems to function well after reboots. the two monitors i connected are asus pg278qr, which are working smoothly at 2560x1440 native and 165hz (dp too). i'm still trying to figure out what's causing this since before reinstalling windows it worked perfectly for months.
Have you attempted disconnecting the SLI bridge to check if it resolves the problem? Occasionally (but rarely), SLI doesn't handle multiple-monitor configurations correctly. To proceed further, navigate to the Control Panel, then System and Security, followed by System. In the left-side panel, select Device Manager. From there, choose the Monitors option, locate the BenQ monitor you're experiencing issues with, and verify whether it's communicating via DisplayPort interconnect or another method.
haven't attempted disconnecting the SLI bridge yet since the other two screens operate correctly and the BenQ displays output, though at a lower resolution. I also downloaded the display driver from the BenQ website and installed it through the device manager; the screen appears clear without any distortions, and the properties confirm the device is working properly.
