Yesterday I opened up a laptop (Lenovo Ideapad 330S-15IKB with a GTX 1050) to address a keyboard problem. While working on it, I also replaced the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU just because I needed to clean them up. Today, during gaming sessions, the laptop began showing BSOD errors labeled "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR." This indicated a hardware issue, so I started testing each component individually until the problem repeated when the GPU was under stress with FurMark. The error didn't produce any dump files. When running FurMark, temperatures peaked around 87°C before fans reached 100%, then dropped to 82–84°C afterward. The BSOD typically occurred after temperatures fell from the high point once fans hit 100%. Another observation after fixing the keyboard was a random clicking noise coming from the laptop. I’m not sure where it’s coming from, but it’s not related to the HDD (the system uses only SSDs) or the fans (they’re functioning properly). I’ve tried disassembling and reassembling the machine, re-seating the power connector after a while, and repasting everything multiple times. Driver updates have helped a bit. Any advice or experience would be appreciated. Fortunately, the keyboard is now working correctly. Files SysnativeFileCollector Perfmon

A clicking noise is commonly caused by a fan. It might not happen every time, but it often does. The issue could be a fan that’s slightly faulty yet still partially functioning. Updated June 26, 2022 by Bombastinator
