I've experienced a similar issue outside of game launches. My system would function normally until it completely stopped responding. If your drive is the system drive, everything would freeze and the task manager would report 100% usage because it couldn't communicate with the drive. However, you could still partially use your PC since open programs remained in RAM. Occasionally I also encountered drive-related bluescreens. The best approach would be to back up your data from the drive, whether it's yours or not. It seems heavy drive access triggers crashes until you restart.

I thought your device could be failing. From what I understand, there’s nothing that can be repaired. If you’re still under warranty, you might be able to return it for repair, but you’ll need to gather all the necessary information from it. I might be mistaken—this seems to align with what I’ve seen before.
