I think my 3970X is having trouble but I’m not sure. This error has been happening for months, getting worse lately. With the old motherboard (ASUS TRX40-E WiFi Gaming), the PC would wait a while before loading VGA BIOS and then start up. Now the new Gigabyte board shows the same error but doesn’t boot at all. It’s not just the slow booting anymore—it’s completely unusable. Even testing an EVGA GTX 1070ti instead of my Titan RTX didn’t fix it. The issue isn’t with the GPU, and it hasn’t been replaced twice yet (one RMA for ASUS, then switched to Gigabyte). Some people say it’s a bad power cable, but I’ve changed both cables already. I’ve unplugged all drives and USB devices, but nothing works. I haven’t tried swapping RAM yet, since I won’t have new sticks until tomorrow. Anyone else had this problem? What solutions have you found? Is there hope to fix it? I’m starting to worry the CPU might be failing, unless it’s my RAM. If the CPU is the problem, what should I do? Should I return it? It’s been under a year and I didn’t damage it during setup, so I should still be eligible for an RMA.
