Error after installing Gigabyte Control Centre
Error after installing Gigabyte Control Centre
I enhanced my MOBO and CPU last evening. At startup I was asked to install Gigabyte Control Centre along with all utilities (BIOS setting). Halfway through the setup a blue screen appeared with the error gdrv3.sys. I looked up possible solutions but found nothing. I set the default boot to safe and selected a restore point for the driver installation. I removed any remaining GCC files, turned off BIOS options, and disabled Intel Turbo Boost features. I suspected Gigabyte's optimization tools were conflicting with Intel's proprietary boost settings. After restarting, I was able to boot normally. I tried reinstalling GCC, excluding OC-related programs, but Intel's settings remained disabled. I repeated the process and finally succeeded. Now I'm able to use Intel Turbo Boost without issues. Anyone else facing this issue? I've downloaded all drivers from Gigabyte's site, but I'm hesitant to retry GCC since it's time-consuming. Unfortunately, no dump files were generated, but here are the system details: OS - Windows 10 Home x64. Was the original OS an OEM version (pre-installed) or a full retail purchase? System hardware age - Approximately one year for the components. MOBO CPU has been running at 20 hours (lol). OS installation age - Have you reinstalled the operating system? The OS was updated about a week ago. CPU model - Intel i5-13600KF at 3.5GHz. Video card - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with 6GB RAM. Motherboard - Z790 AORUS ELITE AX DDR4 (1.0). BIOS updated to F4 last night. Power supply - Corsair RM850x RAM. RAM kit - Patriot Viper 4 Blackout Series, 32GB (2x16GB) at 3200MHz. Is this a laptop or desktop?
Hi, I just set up an account to address your concern. I haven’t faced your exact problem, but based on what I’ve seen, the gigabyte control center software appears to have many issues. The interface feels slow, and it sometimes crashes on its own. Even after upgrading my hardware from AM4 to AM5 and restarting the PC, the GPU driver would freeze after just a short time—around 30 seconds. I checked everything, but the crashes seemed linked to the fan control panel, which manages both fan speed and color. After disabling autostart in the control center, the crashes stopped completely. It’s strange, but it looks like something in the control center was interfering with the fans’ behavior.
Just an update to this, I sent a support request to Gigabyte hoping it was common or a fix had been released (wishful thinking). This was the reply I received, a month and a half later: Answer: Dear Customer, Did you reloaded the OS or you kept the existing OS from the previous system? It appears there might be conflict from apps from previous system. It would be suggested you backup all data first then reload the OS. Afterwards, you can reinstall Control Center and run updates within Control Center. It seems like everyone is reporting the same issues with GCC, laggy and straight up garbage. Might be dodging a bullet not using it but, it would be nice to take advantage of some of the features of the MOBO that we pay top dolla for. Not to mention almost forcing the installs on you burying the auto-install option in the BIOS.
