No one seems to know why the "balanced" power plan leads to minor lag in games. I initially thought it might be related to my character but it occurs even with default settings. I wanted to avoid changing profiles each time I play, so this is frustrating. My hardware includes an 8700k, Kraken x62, GeForce GTX 1080, RipJaw V DDR4 3000, Aorus Gaming 5, and Corsair RM 650i.

Start by switching your Windows setup to High Performance mode for gaming. Balanced and Power saver settings lower the clock speed or limit CPU usage unless you can adjust it. Some systems offer PCIe power saving, but it may create a GPU bottleneck. The best approach is to create a custom plan, pushing all settings to their limits, including HDD and screen time (just leave them blank if you want them never used).

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping there was an alternative way to handle this. I set up my OC with an offset so I could take advantage of adaptive voltage and was hoping to keep speedstep enabled. I guess I'll just switch profiles while gaming.
