Searching for a budget virtualization server around $1200-$1300 with a lower price tag. The offer appears unusually affordable for the hardware. Check the link provided for more details.

The boards cost a lot of money. Which one would you choose? The first generation EPYC isn’t very impressive, especially for single-threaded jobs. For virtual machines, I’d opt for something more powerful—like a 3900x, which runs significantly faster across most tasks.

I planned to use a SuperMicro H11SSL to host multiple virtual machines and Docker containers. This would support Plex, torrent servers, TrueNAS, OpenVPN, GitLab, Apache for small web apps, pfSense, an FTP server (running in Docker), PiHole (in Docker), Apache Guacamole (in Docker), and Portainer. I needed flexibility to expand and add more VMs.

I’m planning to get a Ryzen here. It would significantly boost performance for most tasks while running efficiently in low power. Around 3900x still offers plenty of potential for improvement.
