Eol MacBooks, can Linux help you out?
I just discovered my old MacBook Air from 2011, and Apple stopped providing updates for it recently. That would have been helpful to know before I tried to upgrade. The update erased everything on the drive, leaving only an aluminum paperweight covered in stickers. If I install a Linux distribution like Pop_OS on a USB drive, could I boot it using the OS utilities while the paperweight is present? Also, when I try to reinstall macOS, I get an error saying a download is missing.
Well, I think you might want to give it a shot. I've heard from some folks who have used Linux on MacBooks, but I'm not entirely clear on the bootloader part.
I started from pop!_os but it seems all the data on the disk is missing. Appreciate the resources you shared!
To locate your data, you must access macOS and view the partition.
