Hello everyone, I hope you're all well... Stay safe and healthy! Your thoughts mean a lot to me. I understand many of you are big fans of soul-like games, so I wanted to share this idea with you to gather your opinions. Just like you, I enjoy these types of games, but I'm a bit unsure which one is the best choice. Would you like to discuss: 1) Dark Souls 1 (remastered), 2) Dark Souls 2? Feel free to share your thoughts!

Dark Souls 1 Remaster stands out as one of the most enjoyable titles I've experienced recently. It presents a challenging yet fair experience with great rewards. However, after playing it a few times, the difficulty diminishes significantly. Dark Souls 2 remains the only title in the series that I find unplayable for me. The fixed movement feels restrictive, and the constant online presence exposes you to disruptive players who disrupt your progress. It never truly engaged me; after three attempts, boredom set in quickly. If you haven't tried it yet, Dark Souls 3 is my top pick among the series. The combat here feels more dynamic due to faster pacing and unique attack abilities for various weapons. I appreciate that each weapon holds value without relying on a single "meta" or overpowered option. The community around Dark Souls, though, is quite negative. It seems to split into extremes—hardcore players or those who feel pressured by others. No worries about Nioh if you're unfamiliar with it.

Thanks @Stahlmann, your input is helpful. I’m glad you’re on board with the ds1 re. I haven’t tried 1 or 2 yet, and I’m puzzled as to why they remain costly on Steam (no idea why...).

Because you're already struggling in the souls games, I'd pick the next one. It's definitely a stronger experience.

I'm worried about investing in a low-value title, buddy.

Why would anyone dismiss Dark Souls Remastered as useless? It seems to be the most beloved title in its genre.

Nioh 2 is great. I would also consider Nioh 1 as well. They are connected story-wise (though not really in a linear play 1 before 2 fashion) and the mechanics have changed/improved in 2. If you are looking for something a little outside the box when it comes to souls-like maybe also consider Sekiro. Nioh is still rather souls-like, but Sekiro is a bit of a different beast.

Thanks @tikker, your feedback means a lot. I’ve already tried Sekiro but haven’t finished it. If you want to compare ds1 and ds2, which one would you pick?
